  • Storybook Lodge Sept 17-20, 2009

From my journal entry up at Storybook Lodge:
    Saturday, September 19, 2009

"It is glorious. It is infinitely elating and satisfying to behold the Spirit of God. He is among man - among the believers. I, and we all as a body, just witnessed 11 souls follow Christ in baptism! We gathered around the lake and pastor and Papa (Papa at first and then other deacons and fathers) were in the water with those being baptized. The souls: Joshua Abercrombie, my brother Jonathan, Michele Nadeau, Mac and Simon Bergman, Jenae Connolly, Joseph and Dina Glerum, Mike (Amico's husband), Tessa Alzen, and Tommy Bruggenthies. The sun illuminated the water. I held little Ethan Sands as I watched the blessed scene with tears in my eyes and more drying on my cheeks. A soft breeze, like the Spirit Himself, breathed on us and we could feel God's presence."

It made me long for more converts.

Group games - Daniel is on crutches due to a toothpick injury he incurred the previous day (Friday).
Half of a toothpick punctured his leg (near his knee) and lodged there. Papa took him to the ER and a former
army surgeon (who served in Iraq) literally dug around in Daniel's leg...but never found the toothpick.
So they stitched him up and sent him off. He's doing alright now, but is sore and still limps a bit.

Heidi Johnson, who is so kind to have captured and shared with us all these photos (we forgot
our camera of all things), made the trip there and back with us. On the way home we
stopped and met up with Ted and Sarah (and family) to have dessert together. ICE CREAM!

    Thanks Heidi!

  • Trauma O'er a Wasp (accompanied by a Stink Bug)

Beware the Jessimine with the can...

...all in class Insecta are advised to stay clear...

    ...of this fear-frozen face.

Jessie's two victims were a wasp and a lethargic stink bug. I went upstairs during the situation
and found her completely on edge, jumping around the room every other second thinking of the wasp
that had escaped behind a pane of glass. Having myself been just as ridiculously irrational in the past,
I teased her only a little. The stink bug was also gracing the window until I employed a Kleenex-capture
of it. Then Jessie, a brave soul afterall, proceeded to open the inner window and
    drown the
ill-fated wasp in raid (or rather an equivalent thereof).

And like all good homeschooling families, we took advantage of the situation
and now have an intact (despite the chemical bath) specimen for study.
